Remembering Sheep's Bridge- March 2018

We picked up my nephews, Levi and Bradley and headed to Sheep's Bridge! We stopped on the way and followed a trail that led to the top of a cliff. We stopped there for lunch, where we had fantastic peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My brother told us later that the boys were really hoping that Chris would make PB&J sandwiches (he makes the best ones!). Levi had a fun time when we stopped. He climbed down a bit to lower point, and threw rocks off the mountain. He told me later that this was one of his favorite parts of the trip. Chris had also packed graham crackers, club crackers, Thin Mints, two cups of mini Oreos, sandwich pickles, Rice Crispy Treats, and some Ferroro Rocher truffles. I had no idea all that had been packed, so when we stopped at the store to get bread, I let the boys get two bags of chips! Snacks on snacks on snacks.
We got back on the road, and where getting closer to the switchbacks. I told the boys that there are old vehicles at the bottom of some of the cliffs. They thought that was amazing. We had to check carefully at each curve to make sure we didn't miss any of the dead cars. Once we found them, we had to pull over and throw rocks at them.
When we got to the river, we all got out to walk on the bridge. Levi had to drop some rocks of the bridge, of course.
We set up the awning down by the river. It was nice to relax while the boys tried to skip rocks in the river. Levi got the little shovel we keep in the truck and dug up sand from one part of the beach to dump rocks on another part of the beach.
I walked around in the water even though it was cold. Levi and Chris tried to join me, but they were too cold. I asked the boys to find some pretty shells to take back to their sister, Ella. Once we started looking, we found a ton. Bradley found a teeny tiny little baby shell too.

I asked the boys to draw some pictures for my journal for me. Both of them were kind enough to oblige. Bradley drew a picture of the bridge with sheep crossing, and Levi drew a picture of a shell in the sand.
We headed back out on to the road, and had to continue our watch for the dead cars again. We found the same two, and stopped to throw rocks at them again. We found a little scorpion under one of the rocks- which was very exciting for all.
We kept having to pass a giant Ram pickup truck. It didn't have a license plate, just a hot pink piece of paper in the front and back that said "Dave Jones". They had a bunch of cactus in the back of the truck so we were joking that they stole the cactus and removed the plates, but that their name is actually Dave Jones.

We also stopped to check out the free range cows. There were some adorable babies with them! We pulled up with the windows down to look at them and Bradley warned us that we should turn the radio down because there was a commercial on the radio talking about bacon. Haha!

Chris drove fast over all the bumps to try to catch air. The first one took me and the boys by surprise and Bradley and I screamed like little girls. The only warning Chris would give is calling out "Here We GO!"

We got back to town around 7pm, and took the boys to dinner at Some Burros. Me and Bradley colored pictures while we waited for our food. We met Joe and Ella at Zoyo for frozen yogurt afterward. Ella was wearing Easter bunny sunglasses even though it was dark out. Joe explained that they made an agreement that if he bought them for her, she had to wear them all day no matter what. She did look pretty cute! Levi is too funny and borrowed them for a bit too.
